About our home

Our home is warm and comfortable. Quietly tucked away in this peaceful village. It has 3 bedrooms and a fourth which we use as a study, which could be turned back easily into a bedroom if required. We also have a double sofa bed in the front room which is separate from other rooms, and so can also provide extra accommodation if we have relatives to stay. There is a large kitchen and patio area for relaxing in, beneath our grapevine, watching the swallows high in the sky on the warm long summer evenings. Next to our kitchen is a separate dining area connected to our conservatory. The front living room has a fireplace and T.V. Video, DVD, Play Station etc. Our neighbours are friendly and helpful. There is a park and playing fields 4 minutes walk away, although the garden is big enough for swings and most ball games. There is a summer house at the bottom of the garden.

More about us

  1. Dom is 46 and a Secondary school teacher (Geography). Karen is also a teacher (Drama) but at the moment is looking after Ciaran who is two and Ruari (6). We also have 2 older daughters - Eleanor and Anne-Marie who may join us for all or some of our holidays in summer. We exchanged in summer 2006 with a couple in Perth, Australia and were able to visit our relatives there. It was a fantastic experience and the exchange went very well so we are hoping to exchange in Europe in 2007. We love France and also want to visit Spain although there may be other parts of the continent we would be happy to explore.
We moved from London to our rural life in Summer 05 and really enjoy it here in Oxfordshire. We feel that it is an ideal place to have as a base to relax in and explore Southern England. Our email is

Where is it?

We live in the village of Yarnton, just North of Oxford. It is quiet yet handy for the city of Oxford with its spires, history, River Thames, shops, restaurants and nightlife. The beautiful Oxford countryside surrounds us. Blenheim palace (The Duke of Marlborough's home and birthplace of Churchill) is 3 miles up the road. Oxfordshire is relatively flat and is well served by cycle paths. Walk or cycle into Oxford along the Thames or the canal path.
There are 2 traditional pubs in Yarnton and many more to discover in the surrounding villages or stop at the many farms for a cream tea.
Our location is handy for London, the centre of which can be reached by train in an hour or to the outskirts by car (M40) in the same time. The Midlands are also an hour away and so are the Welsh borders. Bournemouth and the South Coast are also about 60-90 mins away.
