About our home

Our home is a 1925 Old-Portland style bungalow. It has been completely renovated, with hardwood floors, updated kitchen and bath, wireless Internet and all the modern conveniences. The first bedroom has a queen bed, the second bedroom is currently used as a home office, and the partially finished basement has a double futon and half bathroom. You can use an air mattress if there are more people, but we only have one shower!
The house is sunny and breezy in the summer, warm and cozy in the winter. We have a small air conditioner for the bedroom when it's really hot. The wood-burning fireplace is great for relaxing after a chilly day skiing on the mountain or just walking around downtown.

More about us

  1. Casey and I (Laura) are a young couple very interested in travel and new cultures. We are open to urban and rural areas. Our preferred travel times are early summer or during the holidays (US Thanksgiving in late November and Christmas/New Year's). We would like to spend about 3 weeks in Europe in June/July 2007 visiting wineries and local eateries.

We have one cat, Max, who would love to have you stay and keep him company. We would be happy to care for your pet(s), or we can make alternate arrangements for him.

Where is it?

Our neighborhood is very clean and quiet, with Starbucks, an organic grocery, restaurants and shops within a few blocks. We are in between NE Broadway and NE Alberta, with art walks and dozens of boutiques and designer shops. You can walk the 2 miles to central downtown Portland, catch the bus 2 blocks away for a 20 minute ride, or drive in 5 minutes.

Within one hour of our house there is skiing on Mt. Hood, wine tasting in the Willamette Valley, hiking in the gorge, or viewing Mt. St. Helens, an active volcano!

Within 2 hours is the Oregon Coast - fishing, crabbing, whale watching, hiking and viewing the spectacular scenery.

Seattle and Central Oregon (Bend, Sunriver) are about 3 hours away.

Be sure to visit the Kennedy School near our house for a movie with your dinner, and we'll be sure to leave recommendations for other fabulous restaurants. Portland has more breweries than any other city so prepare for great beer too!
