Our 2-story home in located at the NW corner of Portland, Oregon. It consists of a master bedroom with a queen size bed and a large bedroom with 2 twin size beds. A sunny loft functions as a music room with a digital piano. A office space and 2 full bathrooms are located on the 2nd floor as well. Downstairs are the living room, the dining room, the kitchen, a half bath, and a 10 feet by 10 feet outdoor deck. There are small low-maintenance yards at the front and back of the house. Visitors can literately step out our front door and stroll along on a 5-mile pedestrian/bicycling trail maintained by the regional park district.
Our house is located at the end of the street and is surrounded by marshy lands and a small creek maintained by the regional park district. No worries of urban noises and pollution. A popular 5-mile pedestrian/bicycling trail is just few steps away from our house. It meanders around the neighborhood and visitors can enjoy the benefits of walking/biking and at the same time get to sample a bit of American life. There are plenty of grade school kids in the neighborhood. (If your kids would like some American playmates, we can introduce you some families in the neighborhood.) A soccer field, a baseball diamond, 4 tennis courts and a playground are only 5-minutes-walk away. A local community college is also within walking distance. (For visitors who are interested in checking out what American community education has to offer, please check out www.pcc.edu.) Public libraries are easily accessible. There are 5 major grocery stores within the 4 mile radius. Nearby local farmers markets are available on weekends and some weekdays during the summer.
We are a middle-age couple. Scott is an instructor teaching English at Portland Community College. Peishan who is originally from Taiwan is a home-maker. We have two well-behaved girls, Colette and Simone, who are 6 and 4 of age.
We have traveled to Western Europe twice (a 6-weeks and a 4-months visits), and enjoyed our visits. Our goal is to have a second home in France. So we would like to stay in one place and be able to explore its surrounding areas, and maybe scout out some possibilities for our summer/vacation home.
