About our home

My lovely 2-bedroom, 2 bath split-level condo is located in outer Northeast Portland not far from the airport and just a couple of miles from our light rail public transportation train and the mighty Columbia River. I have a view of Mt St Helens from my deck, dining room and bedroom upstairs (queen bed upstairs). I have a full bath upstairs and down, and downstairs has a double bed, washer and dryer, garage, central air conditioning, lots of books, satellite tv, very comfortable. Portland is just 90 minutes from the Pacific, a little less to Mt. Hood for skiiing, just an hour from the incredible Columbia Gorge, and Seattle is just a 3-hour drive away. And of course Portland in itself can keep you very busy with our great restaurants, theatres, interesting neighborhoods, great cafes, and bookstores.

My condo is in a complex built in the early 1970s when open space was not the luxury it is today -- great views, lots of green space, no one looking in the windows. It is in outer Northeast Portland, a few miles east of the airport and about a mile from the Columbia River (and yes, there are planes that fly overheard occasionally but are not too disturbing). The neighbors are friendly and the complex is safe. The MAX train, our light rail public transportation, is just 5 minutes away by car, and it can take you to downtown in about 20 minutes; buses are also available just at the end of the street.

I am a retired single woman. I have lived in Portland since 1979, and I have a bachelor's degree in French and a minor in Italian from Indiana University. I have always been a francophile although my French is rusty, kept alive by watching as many French films and programs as I can. I traveled to Europe twice in the 1970s, and I also lived and studied Italian in Bologna,Italy, during the summer of 1977. Unfortunately, I have not been back to Europe since, and that is a terrible state of affairs that I hope to remedy soon. I love languages (as I said, I speak rusty French, some Spanish and Italian) and literature, the arts and theatre, dogs (I have a miniature poodle), wine, jazz, good food ..... etc.......
