Our home is a four-bedroom suburban New Jersey home in a residential neighborhood in the New York metropolitan area. It is light, bright, clean, (I'm a balabusta) and very child-friendly. We have a large flat screen TV in the family room that also has a pull-out couch, a TV in the master bedroom and a very spacious finished basement, also with pull-out couch and TV. The house has three levels; finished basement, first floor and top floor. We also have a very large deck with an awning. We have a desk-top computer available for your use. Nice kitchen, table that seats six, dining room table for 8 or more, and deck and gas Bar-B-Q. Our home is perfect for a family that wants to use it as a base for travel in NYC,Phila, Boston, the Jersey shore (one to two hours away). We can swap cars (our 2003 Honda Mini-van would be available to you). Remember that Israel is a small country the size of our state of New Jersey, and the US in humongous! For us Americans a 2-4 hour drive is really nothing. You'll get used to it.
For trips to NYC you can go there and back all in one day. Phila is also a possible day trip (kids in school do it for class trips) or you could get a hotel for that city and Boston.
We have great neighbors who would help you out if necessary and we can certainly offer great US travel tips to make the most of your visit. In conclusion, if you have a family and you need space and a place to relax between trips here, there and everyway, our NJ home is a great option.
Our neighborhood has large homes on 1/3 to 1/2 acre lots, which is good for foreigners because people are around if you need assistance. A choice of train stations to NYC is within 15 minutes in two different directions. There is a supermarket down the street that also carries kosher products (walkable but most people drive) a gourmet Italian deli, post office, pharmacy, liquor store, pizzeria -- all within 4 minutes. There is a Chabad house that is perhaps a mile away and a synagogue also down the street (Traditional synagogue, separate seating but you can sit together in the back if you like).
There are of course movie theatres within 15 minutes, as well as a mall, many restaurants, libraries and Washington's headquaters for two winters of the Revolutionary War. Morristown, 10 minute ride, is a Revolutionary war town. Chester, another neighboring town is known for arts, crafts, and cute coffee cafes.
I'm an advertising copywriter. I freelance and work for regular consumer agencies as well as medical agencies. I also have some clients of my own, including Israel Tour Connection, which sponsors guided tours to Israel. My husband is a tax accountant and we have three children -- a 16 year old boy, a 15 year old girl and an 11 year old girl. We are attempting to visit Israel for her Bat Mitzvah celebration, although she still wants a party here, so we're looking for a more economical way to visit. Israel is very important to us and to our family.
I love travel as does my family. We all speak English of course, and I speak some French, Italian, understand some Spanish and some Hebrew.
