“We just spent a relaxing week at the house of Karen and Roy in Redondo Beach. Their house is situated just a short walk from the beach where you can relax, rollerblade or ride a bike. Their beautiful home was clean and spacious. The best part for us was that we had the opportunity to take care of their lovely dog, Peisha. We spent the mornings and evenings walking next to the beach with Peisha who must be the most well behaved dog we have ever met. We spoke to Karen and Roy several times on Skype and they helped to make it a successful home exchange. They left our home and car in perfect condition. thanks so much”
Karen & Roy's reviewsAs a host (2)
“We exchanged non-simultaneously with Karen and Roy last year (2009). It was our first exchange and we found it fantastic. We had a lot of contact with Karen and Roy before the exchanges and connected with them well. Their home is beautiful and in such a fabulous area, close to the beach, shops and some great restaurants (I desperately miss the Mexican!). We also got to know their children as they would call in to look after their 2 dogs, which we all became very fond of! We had use of their car and got to see lots of great things close by in LA, Hollywood, and Beverley Hills etc. Roy and Karen came to our Australia in Xmas 09 and looked after our home wonderfully. Our neighbors came to greet them and are now good friends as well. We would highly recommend anyone wanting to do an exchange with Karen and Roy.”
Where is it?
Residential areas near the beach are densely populated here, but our block is unusually quiet and uncrowded on that scale with no apartment buildings and low traffic. A Walgreens pharmacy/general store is 50 yards away, the wide, sand, Pacific Ocean beach closer than 2 city blocks west, and 3 restaurants lie within a half block. Redondo Pier with stores and restaurants under 1/2 mile north, and a retail village (Riviera Village) about a mile south. The beach stretches almost endlessly with a bike path for miles to the north and beautiful sunsets. Pacific Coast Highway which traces the entire California Coast is just east of us. The Los Angeles area offers a staggering array of things to see and do within an hour's drive: Hollywood, Santa Monica, Disneyland, active and spectator sports, theater, parks, museums; you can fill your schedule or enjoy the beach atmosphere or some of both. Longer ventures open many more options: mountains, deserts, other cities, extreme sports. We've taken guests to spend one night among the giant Sequoia trees of the Sierra Nevada Mtns from our house, and Roy was a regular skydiver at Perris, about 80 miles away, many weekends for 20 years.
