About our home

Our home is comfortably furnished and equipped with all the amenities you would expect from a modern family home -- WLAN (WiFi), multiple computers, cable TV, central air conditioning, etc.

The setup of our home is as follow:
Main level - Living room, dining area, kitchen and 1 half-bathroom (toilet and sink only).
Upper level - 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms (toilet, sink and bathtub/shower). The Master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. Each bedroom has a Queen- or King -sized bed that comfortably sleeps two persons.
Basement - Finished but is really our storage and laundry area. It has another half-bathroom as well as a small room with a double bed (this room acts as an 'overflow' for guests).

The city of Rockville is part of the Washington, DC area and is well-served by DC's Metro (subway) system. Rockville is less of a suburb than a small city. Our neighborhood is quiet yet convenient. There are parks nearby that provide respite from the bustle of city life but yet we are within walking distance of the Rockville Town Center where there are restaurants, shops, offices, library, multi-screen cinema and farmer's markets on the weekends. The Metro station is just across from the Town Center where there is a direct line into DC within minutes.

Some of the more famous attractions are the White House, the National Mall with the nearby U.S. Capitol, Smithsonian museums and all the Memorials, Library of Congress, Pentagon, etc. Most of these places are free of charge. Our summer months are very warm and humid, and the attractions can be packed with tourists. One thing you can be sure: you will never run out of things to do in this area full of history and culture!

More about us

  1. Our travelling party consists of my mother, my daughter and me (my son prefers to go to his dad)

  2. I have a Masters and work at an architectural firm. My daughter is a college student and my son is in high school. My mother is a retired school teacher who lives in Singapore. If Singapore is also on your travel radar, we could possibly accommodate you in her apartment there.

  3. We have travelled widely around the world but Europe remains our favourite. We like to live like locals when we travel; it's the only way to experience a country and its people and culture! I love the great outdoors; given the choice, I would always pick going on a walk/hike over shopping. My daughter and mother are quite the opposite -- they are city folks and like warmer weather. Hence, our trips are usually a mix of both nature and urban.
