About our home

We own a large, typical California home on the west side of Mt. Helix, a mountain near San Diego. The house is decorated nicely. The dining room is huge and adjoins the gourmet kitchen, which has a gas range, electric oven, microwave, frig, dishwasher and the other modern cons. The colorful western sunsets can be seen from almost every room. There are four large bedrooms; three with queen or double beds, and one with a single bed. The west-facing wall in the large living room is all windows so you can watch the city lights or birds flitting around during the daytime. The view of hills and homes will remind you of a Mediterrian town landscape. The cozy family room has a big, flat-screen TV with surround sound and satellite. Far off in the distance, you can see the downtown highrises, a silver of ocean and on clear days you can see the Coronado islands, 10 miles offshore. The green and cozy backyard has a grill. We usually host the Independence Day party in our front yard, with our firepit going to stave off the cool ocean breeze, while we watch nine firewords displays. In the garage, there is a pool table, surf boards, boogie boards and snorkling equipment. In one bedroom there is an XBox with games, DVD's, and CD's.

More about us

  1. Paul is an attorney and Linda is in public relations. Our sons are 17 and 24. We like to ski, surf, and explore new areas. We need to go someplace interesting and active so the boys will still want to vacation with us. We also love dogs, but are very allergic to cats. Our sweet German Shorthair pointer would like to live with you when you visit, but she can go to the kennel if preferred. She likes to be petted, walked and will always come if you promise a "cookie."

Where is it?

This is a great location. Within a two-hour drive you can be in the desert, mountains or beach. We live about 20 minutes from downtown San Diego and its sophisticated night life. The beaches are about a 20 - 30 minutes drive. Mexico is 30 minutes away. Within a 15-minute drive you can be at three excellent golf courses. Disneyland is two hours away and to get to Los Angeles is a three-hour drive. In our little town of La Mesa there is a quaint village filled with tiny antique stores, coffee houses and second-hand bookstores. On Thursday nights in the summer, there are "Old Car" night where the streets fill with classic American cars and old fashioned rock 'n roll music.
