About our home

Hello! We will be traveling to Paris in April. My husband will be working for two weeks at his company's Paris office and we would love to swap homes so that we can will have a comfortable location to base ourselves for work. We are also hoping to find a pet-lover to swap with because we'll be leaving behind our sweet cat, Sylvie.

Our home is located in downtown San Jose, CA and is easily accessible to any location in the San Francisco Bay area, Central Coast or Napa/Sonoma wine country for day or overnight trips. Driving distances: San Francisco: 60 minutes; Oakland/Berkeley: 50-60 minutes; Santa Cruz: 40-45 minutes.

The house is a lovely Craftsman bungalow built around 1920. It has one bedroom (King bed) and one office indoors. It has one bedroom through the back yard, off the garage with one Queen Bed. It has one full bathroom (retro pink/black tile decor from the 1950s--see http://savethepinkbathrooms.com/!). My husband works is a web engineer and often works from home so the office includes anything you may need including a printer, scanner, and large, external flat-screen monitor you can attach your laptop to for web work, photo editing, or working in multiple windows. Wifi is available throughout the house. The kitchen is large with a dishwasher, electric stove, and any cooking gadget you could want. We have an indoor laundry room with washer and dryer.

We have one cat, Sylvie, who needs minimal care (scooping her litter every few days, and keeping dry food and water available). She can even be left alone (with plenty of food and water) for up to 3 days. If you wish to go away for longer (perhaps Los Angeles, Yosemite, Las Vegas?), I can arrange to have a friend stop by to check in on her.

The neighborhood is wonderful--ethnically and socioeconomically diverse, but safe. Some of our favorites restaurants in walking distance include Vietnamese, Mexican, Japanese, Korean, Ethiopian, and vegetarian food. San Jose is a great community to live in and place for families with lots of parks, hiking/bike trails, and beautiful public spaces.

We are very close to downtown including the Tech Museum, San Jose Museum of Art, San Jose State University. We are also short drive from Stanford and UC Berkeley universities. We are in the heart of Silicon Valley--corporate headquarters within a 20 minute drive include: Google, Facebook, Apple, Yahoo, Ebay, Adobe, Cisco, etc.
