About our home

Our house is a classic 1936 Monterey Colonial Style pool home. We live on a quiet tree lined street that reminds people of Beverly Hills. Our home is comfortable and decorated with many antiques. The floors are hardwood with antique area rugs and the bathroom has the original 1936 tile and fixtures. The first floor consists of an entry hall, living room with fireplace, den, kitchen, breakfast room, dining room, and WC. The kitchen is well equipped, as we enjoy cooking. There is seating for 4 in the breakfast room and seating for 6-8 in the dining room. There are three bedrooms—a master bedroom with a large king size bed (sleeps 2) and a WC, a secondary bedroom with a twin bed and a twin pull out bed (sleeps 2), and another bedroom with a twin size bed plus 2 pull out twin beds (sleeps 3). The bedrooms are on the second floor along with the main bathroom. We have a beautiful pool and spa with a nice patio area with barbecue. The yard is very large and there is a creek and park behind the property with play equipment for young children. This is a perfect neighborhood to walk in and enjoy the historic homes and beautiful gardens. We like the tropics and skiing in Europe. Weekends in Mammoth Lakes, CA are great too. But open to view all offers.

Our home is located in a historic district, known as Floral Park. There are grocery/market, pharmacy, and general department stores (Kohls and Target) within 1.2 miles (2 km). Santa Ana is home to the artist village downtown, the fabulous Bowers Museum, and the Discovery Science Center. We are centrally located in Orange County. This prime location is in the center of everything—the perfect spot to see all of Orange County’s destination along with both Los Angeles and San Diego sites. We are about 9 miles (15 km) to the Orange County Airport. We are about 1 to 1.5 hours away from Los Angeles International Airport. There is a golf course about 1.2 miles (2km)away. Disneyland is less than 10 minutes away (5.4 miles/8.6 km). South Coast Plaza—a world renowned shopping destination is 8 miles (12.8 km). Newport Beach with it’s lovely sand beaches and Balboa Island are 13 miles (21 km) Huntington Beach, know for its surfing is 16 miles/25.7 km. Laguna Beach, a fabulous seaside artist village is 20 miles/32 km. It takes about 25 minutes to get there. Legoland and Seaworld are to the south about 1.5 hours. Los Angeles holds Hollywood, Universal Studios, La Brea Tar Pits, the Getty Museum and many other exciting site seeing opportunities—all about 40 miles to the north. Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead for skiing and the local mountains for hiking are about 1.5 hours drive. For world class skiing and high Sierra Mountain hiking, Mammoth Mountain is 6 hours drive to the North.

Our family consists of Bob, who is an architect--he loves fishing and skiing and Randi, who is an office manager--who loves travel and internet research. Bob has lived in Denmark and Randi has lived in the Philippines in their past. Our son is 12 and loves skiing and swimming, along with many other sports (surfing, soccer, football, and golf). Our daughter is 8 and is a fantastic artist and avid reader, she also enjoys swimming. We all love travel, animals, meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. We are all experienced travelers and we look forward to exchanging homes, so that we can actually travel more often. We often travel with my husband’s sister from Portland, Oregon—so we may be able to arrange an exchange involving her home as well. My mother lives less than a mile from the house and she is willing to assist any exchangers that come to our home. We prefer exchange during US School holidays. We speak English and have a very limited understanding of French and Spanish.
