The location of this building can't be more perfect. 2 blocks from the beach on Main Street which is the trendy yet charming old downtown of Santa Monica. It has over 20 restaurants and tons of shops all within a miles walk south. Walking due west and turning north at the beach you can walk 3 blocks to the Santa Monica Pier with it's Ferris wheel glowing at night above the water and other rides and carnival games. If you turn east at the Pier's entrance and walk 1 block N on Ocean then turn E for 1 block on Broadway you will be at the entrance of the 3rd St. Promenade on the left. It's an outdoor shopping mall with more places to eat or there is an indoor mall on the right. The Promenade goes on for several more blocks before ending at Wiltshire Blvd. In this area there are also 3 or 4 movie theatres. If you would rather bike or roller blade to any of these areas you can rent both at the Pier or bikes on Main St. at Bikeattak. There are two convenience stores nearby. The first is in the adjoining building to the N which has organic produce and healthy foods. If you walk another door down you will be at Horizons West surf shop where you can rent surf boards and wetsuits if you choose. If you'd rather have non healthy food choices the other store is 2 blocks south. If neither one of them has what you want you can drive to Albertsons about a mile and a half away across the street from blockbuster video on Ocean Park & Lincoln Blvd. On Sundays there is a Farmers market near the corner of Ocean Park and Main with pony rides for tots and great breakfast/early lunch food as well as fresh produce and crafts. Public transportation is good with buses and taxis in Santa Monica. If you tire of the beach and want tourist activity Beverly Hills is due W.and offers shopping on Rodeo Dr. W.Hollywood which offers a full time farmers market and great shopping on 3rd and Fairfax. N. on LaBrea is Hollywood. N. of there is Universal Studios theme park all not more than 1 hours drive

My husband is a dentist in Oklahoma City where we own a 5,000 sq.ft house with pool and tennis court. I live in Santa Monica with my 15yr. old aspiring actress daughter. Our oldest daughter lives in Boulder Colorado where she attends college. We fly to meet up with each other on weekends. My girls enjoy snow skiing both in Colorado and at Mountain High which is 1 1/2 hours from Santa Monica. They also enjoy surfing. My husband ski's and I like to watch my family from the beach or inside by a fire looking out the ski lodge window. We enjoy traveling and meeting new people. At our home in Oklahoma we have hosted over a dozen exchange students from Spain, Turkey, Russia, Japan, Korea, Germany, Austria, The Czech Republic and Italy. We have visited many of them in their home countries and continue to keep contact with most of them as well even though sadly my husband and I only speak English. Both our daughters have taken Spanish classes and my oldest was an exchange student in Australia. We are not relaxing travelers. We like to stay busy exploring our new destination. We also enjoy getting to know the local people instead of being stuck with a group of other tourists. We are not a rowdy bunch but clean and considerate yet adventurous.
