About our home

This home was built in 1948 to promote the movie "Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House" starring Cary Grant and Myrna Loy. We have updated it, but
it is still known by long-time local residents as "the dream house". It rests on a large lot in a quiet neighborhood. There is a dishwasher, washer and dryer, 2 full bathrooms and one 1/2 bath, and we have a car for your use. Eleven miles from the Mall of America for shopping. Downtown St. Paul is quite close and downtown Minneapolis is about 14 miles. There are many cultural opportunities in the Twin Cities, from museums to theatres. Minneapolis is home to the world famous Guthrie Theatre and St. Paul boasts the Fitzgerald. There are many excellent restaurants of just about any cuisine that one would care to experience. The city of Minneapolis has three beautiful lakes that are lovely to drive around with many large older homes of the mansion variety for those who appreciate architecture to enjoy looking at. In St. Paul you can tour the James J. Hill house and in Minneapolis The Swedish Institute is open for touring.
The port city of Duluth is 150 miles north and makes a great day trip. It is well worth it to walk out on the causeway and perhaps view ships going through the lift bridge.
In the winter you can try cross country or downhill skiing. And we may be able to arrange for a friend to initiate you into ice fishing!
