Our home, Birchwood, sits on 23 lovely acres of woods, gardens and lawn, with 600 feet of magnificent waterfront. The house features a newly-renovated gourmet kitchen, an expansive living room, a library and a formal dining room. The water-side deck offers great opportunities for relaxing on the comfortable furniture, while enjoying gorgeous sunsets over Blue Hill Mountain. The second floor includes a large master bedroom with two full bathrooms and a water view. There is a second bedroom overlooking the water and two other bedrooms on the garden side of the home. All of the bedrooms are on the second floor. The fourth bedroom has a bunk bed with a trundle and is a great spot for children. However, it is the only bedroom without its own bathroom, so ""sharing"" a bath will be necessary for guests staying in that room.
The house has its own walk-out dock and two deep-water moorings. The coastline and islands are usually inhabited by harbor seals, loons and bald eagles in the summer and may be explored by boat or kayak. The beach is a mixture of sand and rock and is a great place to walk, as long as you keep in mind the changing tides. Newbury Neck is a wonderful place for hiking, jogging and biking Newbury Neck is located within an hour of Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island, which offers many opportunities for shopping, hiking, biking, boating, rock-climbing and whale-watching.
