About our home

Our vacation getaway is in the quiet Tahoe West Shore community of Tahoma, 10 min south of lively Tahoe City. Easy walking distance to Sugar Pine Point State Park (one block), and Tahoe beach (15 min walk). Fantastic outdoor activities all seasons, with hiking, mountain biking, & lake sports in spring / summer / fall; in winter, snowshoeing, cross country skiing (Sugar Pine Park) and many choices for downhill skiing at Tahoe ski resorts (closest is Homewood, just 2 miles away). Three bedrooms: master suite has a queen bed, desk & private bathroom; second bedroom downstairs (Fox room) has a queen bed; and third bedroom (Bear room) downstairs has bunkbeds. New sofa pull-out sleeper upstairs can sleep two more guests. The top floor has the master bath w/tub & shower, plus a half bathroom in the hallway; downstairs has another full bathroom with tub and shower. Large two-car garage. Central heating plus gas stove fireplace in Great Room for cozy winter evenings. Free use of the dock and small sandy beach for guests (follow Pine St. to water / shared with Water's Edge Condominiums)

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Tahoma is a quiet, friendly neighborhood nestled between the mountains and Tahoe shore. Ten-minute drive to Tahoe City with great restaurants and shopping. Beautiful lake-side drive to either Kings Beach or Incline Village (North Tahoe shore), or to bustling South Lake Tahoe. Just a few minutes bike ride to either lake beach or forest paths.

Buzzy restaurants
Fire Sign Cafe - outstanding breakfast/lunch; Chamber's Landing Bar & Grill - fantastic view right on the lake, just minutes drive away. Other places in nearby Tahoe City that are great: River Grill (high end), Fat Cat Bar & Grill (huge awesome burgers), Tahoe Tap Haus (great menu selection & excellent quality) and good beer selection
Cool bars
Fat Cat is a fun place to hang out in Tahoe City; South Tahoe has the best selection of great bars (The Loft is one of our favorites for quality drinks and atmosphere)
Retail therapy
Lots of shops to browse in nearby Tahoe City. For more selection, try King's Beach or Incline Village. For serious shoppers, South Tahoe is your destination.
Bit of culture
Vikingsholm Castle in nearby Emerald Bay; tour the century-old Hellman-Ehrman Mansion and grounds in Ed Z'berg (https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=510)
Walks in the park
Ed Z'berg Sugar Pine Point State Park, one block from house. Half a dozen other parks within a short drive -- so many to explore!
Spot of exercise
Lake sports (kayaking), forest hiking / mountain biking right outside your door. Legendary Tahoe Rim Trail circles the entire lake, with a huge variety of trails of all lengths and difficulty.
Day tripping
We regularly day-trip to hiking and beach spots all around the lake.
