About our home

A sweet 1920s bungalow named Ravenswood nestled in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in the DC metro area offers it's full 1000SQFT sun-filled, newly-built basement apartment (RavensNest). Situated in a glen in one of the first suburbs of Washington DC founded in 1888 for its natural springs and Sylvanian community - that remain to this day.

Two rambunctious cats live upstairs with their family of three humans (us). DC Metro / Subway (Takoma) Station is an 11 minute / .5 mile walk. Ample street parking available. Sligo Creek Parkway (closed on Sundays for walking, biking, etc) is mile away; multiple parks are also nearby. Darling downtown Takoma Park, Maryland and Takoma DC is a 6 minute walk with multiple fine and casual dining options and eclectic, local and fair trade shopping options along with a bustling Farmer's Market on Sundays.

Takoma Park is perhaps best known to the general public for its small town atmosphere and pleasant, tree-shaded neighborhoods of stately Victorian mansions and Sears bungalows of the 1920s. Behind this quiet façade lies an almost strident activism on the part of its residents to preserve the best attributes of a small community of some 18,000 residents.

More about us

  1. We’re a couple with a 10-year-old daughter and we love traveling and sharing our home and neighborhood with guests.

  2. Jared is a professional nonprofit fundraiser and Nadia is a photo editor for NatGeo Creative - the stock agency for National Geographic Partners - which is now a Disney property.

  3. We have a cozy eclectic home with lots of antiques and interesting bric-a-brac and collections. We share our home with two parakeets, two cats and a 24 koi fish in two outdoor ponds. If your pets will play nice with our kitties they are welcome to come as well. Alternatively we can board our animals or find a sitter to care for them if you don't mind them in the upstairs home. Our cats are not allowed in our basement apartment .

Where is it?

Historic Takoma Park is known as the Berkeley of the East and the “Peoples Republic of Takoma Park” with more Obama administration government officials per capita than any other area in DC! We are the crunchy granola progressive community that you might expect. We are situated in the heart of the historic district with Victorian "Painted Ladies" and craftsman bungalows. Only a short seven minute walk to the Takoma metro station and a 30 minute journey door-to-door to the Smithsonian and all that our nation's capital has to offer. In addition to downtown DC we are close to several area attractions that make lovely day trips - Baltimore Aquarium and Walter's Art Museum, Virginia Wine and Horse Country, Delaware's Winterthur Museum and Gardens and so much more.
