Kimberly's reviewsAs a host (5)
“We had wonderful days at Kim’s home with her lovely Family (and cats.)”
“This was such a good experience from start to finish. Kim and Frank made the logistics of the exchange so easy and always kept in full communication. The house itself is in a charming suburb of D.C. and the neighbours made us feel like part of their community. We were even invited to take part in the July 4th street party! Takoma itself has a busy small town centre with some shops, eateries, bars and the Metro station to connect you with Downtown D.C. in 20 minutes. We could also use the bikes provided for us to cycle on the trails which were accessible from the end of the street. It is possible to cycle to D.C. all the way on these trails. Everything was first class.......the house, the garden, the cars (Kim and Frank left us both cars to use!) and of course the location. A great experience all round.......thanks Kim and Frank for making it all possible.”
“Kim and her family welcomed us so well, they are so friendly! They provided us many nice advices. They were very helpful with us. We had a wonderful stay in their nice house! Takoma park is a good location to explore Washington Dc and around.”
“Hello Kim and her family are very nice and kind. They spend more time with us and tell us what see around Takoma and Washington. Takoma is very good location for see Washington. Consiglio questa location anche per vedere e vivere la vera America, quella delle case tipiche, e fare un po' di vita americana. I miei figli e noi siamo stati poi in piacevole compagnia con i proprietari e spesso avevamo modo di parlare delle nostre giornate e ascoltare i loro consigli. Bus e metro collegano in 20 minuti alla città e i supermercati sono facilmente raggiungibili con l'auto. Grazie per la bellissima esperienza ”
Where is it?
Our home is surrounded by large, mature oak trees. It is in an area of the DC Metro Area called Takoma Park. It sits up on a bank in a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood easily accessible to Washington, D.C. by bus, train, cycling, or car. Our home is connected to Washington, D.C. by a 5 minute bus ride from our neighborhood to the DC Metro Red Line train. Union Station is a 10 minute ride to Takoma Park.
We have neighbors of all sorts of backgrounds: artists, environmental activists, journalists, non-profit and Federal government professionals, physicians, aid workers... The Old Town area, just a 5 minute bus ride away near the Metro/train, has plenty of nice restaurants, including an authentic Italian restaurant with oven roasted pizza, Korean, Thai, Middle Eastern, and Cafes with bookshops, music, and entertainment in the evening -- all restaurants are laid back, inexpensive, and family friendly. There are two parks in the neighborhood for kids, both next to a beautiful, ankle-deep creek for more added fun.
It is easily accessible to downtown Washington, D.C. A popular area for music and clubbing is U-Street.
