We live in a quiet, older neighborhood on top of Bull Mountain. Our large home is situated on a flag lot, so it is off the street with a large private backyard and deck. Attached to the deck is our son's "Make-A-Wish" charming 500 square foot "House in the Trees" complete with garage, kitchen, TV, DVD, VHS and trap door! We sleep in Josh's House most of the year, with 3 small heaters and electric blankets available; it's cozy. We have a large open kitchen with a choice of 3 eating areas, which includes our deck. With 4 bedrooms and Josh's House, there are numerous places to sleep. Our living room has large windows that look out on our spacious backyard and the many trees. Two bedrooms and one bath are upstairs. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms are on the main floor. We have all the amenities: fully stocked kitchen, TV, DVD, VHS, sterio with inside and outside speakers.
Just a short walk down our street is an open greenspace. There are many nearby parks including: Cook Park on the Tualatin River. Our neighbors are very friendly and we enjoy visiting with them while in our backyard. Beautiful downtown Portland is only 15 minutes away by freeway. Portland's beautiful waterfront, shopping, art museum, Japanese Gardens, and trendy restaurants and more are worth visiting. The Washington Square Mall and Bridgeport Mall are only 10 minutes away. We love visiting our new library and quaint downtown Tigard. Drive just 2 minutes down the backside of Bull Mountain and you are in the country full of farmlands, berry farms and tree farms. Portland is a biking mecca, so many cyclists can be seen riding on these back country roads or in downtown Portland. Pulic transportation is 5 minutes away by car.
We have 5 children, the first is married and in college, the second is away in college, the second and third are in highschool and our youngest is in third grade. Our son's House in the Trees was a Make-A-Wish idea, but was actually built by our loving community. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2004 and thankfully is doing very well today. We are involved in ministry work in East Africa and attend a nearby church regularly. Our oldest daughter is due to give birth to our first grandchild this New Years 2008/2009, so we would like to exchange our home with someone in the Redding/Shasta/Trukee area. We want to be as close as possible so we can join in the celebration of the babies birth!
