About our home

The home is a duplex on a beautiful tree-lined street in NW Washington DC. A long row of cherry blossoms bloom right in front of the house and there is a large yard with a great old maple in the back.

There is a large master bedroom with a queen size bed. We also have a portable crib and there is baby gear available for your use. There is one sunny bathroom with a tub.

Downstairs consists of a living room with cable TV, stereo, computer and DSL internet access. The kitchen has a dishwasher, microwave, gas stove, and fridge. There is an enclosed, heated porch which is our dining room. If you go down the stairs from the porch, there is a large yard and a patio area where you can grill (there is a chair/table set and a Weber grill). Downstairs is also the washer and dryer.

The house has radiant heat and A/C as well as ceiling fans in every room. It has hardwood floors and is sunny throughout.

Where is it?

We live in the Palisades/Georgetown neighborhood of Washington DC. The house is less than a mile from the borders of VA and MD but also very close to downtown. The bus stops directly in front of our house, it takes you to Georgetown and Dupont, and downtown areas and it runs all day/night. We are about 2 1/2 miles (6 km) from the airport and 3 miles (7 km) from the heart of downtown.

Washington is a beautiful city with many wonderful museums (Natural Science, Air and Space, American history, Native American, to name just a few!) important monuments (Lincoln memorial, Jefferson memorial, Vietnam memorial) a great zoo with a new baby panda bear, and of course many important histotical and government sites (White House, Congress, Supreme Court). But it is also an international city with its own neighborhoods and distict areas.

Within walking distance of the house (about a 10 min walk) there is a supermarket and pharmacy, liquor store with a wide selection of wines, as well as a great beakery. In the other direction, a 5 minute walk takes you to a coffee shop, mini market, and video store, dry cleaners, beauty salon, and great restaurants that vary from family casual to formal. This is a very family friendly neighborhood and there is are 2 parks 3 blocks away that would be able to entertain any child and/or pet for hours.
