About our home

Our home is a large 5 bedroom period house built in the late 1800's in the picturesque town of West Orange, home of Thomas Edison. It has original wood flooring throughout, with 3 original fireplaces and a grand front hall staircase. The decor is a mix of modern and country chic with beautiful antiques, art and furniture collected over our lifetime from travels and friends.

Our backyard is fenced in with plenty of privacy, with two back porches, a lower back patio with outdoor jacuzzi and firepit, large garden areas and an in-ground swimming pool. Our front yard has a large wrap-around porch with hammokc, front garden and large hedges along the road, with a 2 car driveway.

We live on a very quiet street near an elementary and middle school in a neighborhood made up of families and couples. We are located on the edge of the beautiful, large South Mountain Reservoir, perfect for cycling and peaceful walks through the forest and trails. West Orange has nearby train and bus access to reach central Manhattan within 30 minutes, and is only a 20 minute drive from the airport. Our town has a large ice-skating rink, zoo, fork-and-dine movie theater, mini-golf course, seven golf courses, tons of shops, and the nearby downtown, trendy areas of Montclair and South Orange with excellent cafe's, bookstores and restaurants. We are located within easy access of Livingston mall, Willowbrook mall and the luxurious Short Hills mall, as well as many shopping outlets (no sales tax in New Jersey!).

Finally, there are tons of outdoor activities in the area as well, with beaches, mountains and forests, and Atlantic City, as well as lovely artistic and historic towns nearby that make great day trips.
