This house is a block from the downtown area but has an area of trees and bushes next to the river on the north part of the 1/3 acre property. This house is simple but warm, centrally located, clean and convenient. If you want to have granite counter-tops, air-conditioning, dishwashers and top-of-the-line furnishings, you may want to continue the search. This house is old-style Montana. Not fancy but comfortable.
The house is two story with 2 bedrooms and bath/shower downstairs and 2 bedrooms and shower bathroom. A full unfinished basement holds the washer dryer. The kitchen is typical Montana country kitchen with many cupboards and a kitchen table. The car is an all-wheel drive older Forrester, Subaru and practical for driving around in the Montana winter.
This home is walking distance to the downtown of Whitefish, Montana, a well-known destination Ski Area town. The Ski Area best known as Big Mountain and now Whitefish Ski Resort has fabulous terrain for skiing, snow boarding, hiking and biking in the summer. They offer horse-drawn wagon rides on the ski area and shuttle busses from town for skiers in the winter. From the top warmup building with a restaurant and bar, you will find an outrageous view of the Glacier Park mountains in the near distance. Glacier National Park is only 24 miles from town and borders Canada with hiking, cross-country skiing, and fantastic views. Nearby are rivers with class 4 Kayaking, Lakes with boating, water skiing, kayaking, windsurfing and more.
The town of Whitefish is small, warm and friendly, having the essentials, a local coffee brewing company, a local brewery, stores to find cowboy boots, arts and crafts, ice cream and multiple restaurant and several grocery markets. Summer brings a downtown farmers' market with fresh local vegetables and products. Low keyed and casual and real. That is the style in Whitefish.
I am a young retired nurse with a 10-pound, 2.4kg Maltipoo dog, a poodle mixed with a maltese. I have traveled extensively in my career and for fun and speak French fairly well having lived in France for 2 yours. My Spanish and German are on a lower proficiency level. I do artwork and like taking language courses so that would be a plus.
I am interested in Europe or other places that are safe and politically stable. I do not need large or particularly fancy living quarters but do want quiet, safe, clean and bright. I do not want to share a house and prefer my own house or flat. I have allergies to dogs so would have a problem if a dog has lived in the place in the last 5 months or so. I prefer tile floors but am open to other options. I like a place that does not have snow in the winter and outdoor activities are possible year round. I enjoy country living if there is a car to help get around and a town not too far away.
