About our home

Beautiful cottage in the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina. Situated just 58 minutes from all the culture and art of Asheville, yet close to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park and all the quaint small towns in the area.

The home has 2 bedrooms downstairs and a master bedroom upstairs., along with a lovely sleeping porch where you can fall asleep listening to the river below. The kitchen is fully-equipped with a stainless steel fridge with icemaker, range, and dishwasher. Other amenities include a 2-car carport, and a wood stove.

Enjoy drinks on the deck while you watch the fireflies in the trees or head into Sylva (7.5 miles away) for a gourmet dinner or a movie. Whatever you want to do, from shopping for antiques to just relaxing on the deck, this is the best base you could choose to do it from.

Our home overlooks the Tuckaseegee River, very close to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park (most visited park in the US). It is a vacation rental, so exchange would not have to be simultaneous if you would like to visit during a different time of the year (spring, summer and fall are all lovely).

Close to our home are many opportunities for hiking, kayaking, rafting, and fishing. You can even kayak the river right in front of our home and float past our house.

Nearby in Sylva and Bryson City (less than 15 minutes) are many fantastic restaurants and a wonderful spa. Less than an hour away is Asheville with it's many dining and shopping opportunities. Asheville also has a vibrant arts scene with music, pottery, paintings, theater and more.

More about us

  1. We are Deborah and Roger, a couple with one college-age daughter. We are both retired professionals (biologist and program analyst) and enjoy travelling when able to get away. We have done 3 home exchanges so far and find it to be a wonderful way to really get to know the area we're visiting. We would expect to arrange an exchange well in advance in order to facilitate the planning process both for ourselves and for our exchange partners.
