About our home

We have a lakeside home with a surrounding deck that faces the water with a spectacular view of the lake, and the surrounding mountains. The glass enclosed sunroom/dining room has a cathedral ceiling that is filled with glorious sunlight and is a wonderful gathering place to eat and relax. Every bedroom has a view of the lake. Next to the dining room is a modern kitchen with microwave oven, an electric oven, garbage disposal and dishwasher. There are two bedroooms and two bathrooms on the first floor, a living room and laundry. The lower floor has two bedrooms and a bath as well as an outdoor stone patio. We are 2 hrs. 46 minutes from Manhatan, New York, 2 hrs. 19 minutes from Philadelphia, 4 hrs. 29 minutes from Washington, D.C., & 5 hrs. 12 minutes from breathtakingly beautiful Niagra Falls, NY.

More about us

  1. My wife (Beth and I (Henry) are retired and the parents of three children, two are lawyers and one a computer software designer. I taught college for 41 years, mostly in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, but also briefly in Washington, D.C., San Francisco and recently in Thailand. My wife was an accountant for several years before her retirement. We enjoy traveling, cooking, reading, playing tennis, walking, and most especially visiting with our children and our six grandchildren who are located in Philadelpia, PA, Long Island, N.Y. and Pacific Grove, California.

Where is it?

We have friendly but few neighbors on the hill overlooking our lake. About three-quarters of the residents at Harvey's lake live here year round; the rest are summmer residents. It's very quiet and serene place in the fall, winter, and spring; the summer tends to get a little noisy with the jet skis and motorboats. We are conveniently located by four-lane highways to Philadelphia (2 hrs away, New York (3 hrs away) and Washington, D.C. (4 hrs away) Several movie houses are within 20-40 minutes away; a symphony orchestra plays almost monthly in the fall and winter seasons in Wilkes-Barre, 15 miles away
