Caribbean Cottage

We live in St. Croix, the largest of the Virgin Islands, but more secluded and with fewer cruise ships. We're ten minutes from the nearest town of Christiansted, in a quiet area, the last of three houses on a short unpaved road. We live near a salt pond nature preserve, so we are visited by many species of tropical birds, including large herons and egrets . We are five minutes by car from a beach with excellent snorkeling - many tropical fish and colorful corals in clear ocean water - and also five minutes by car from a world class hotel, golf course, and tennis courts.

St. Croix has beautiful white sand beaches which are perfect for long walks, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and picnicking. There's a beach for everyone - secluded ones that are fun to hike to, family oriented ones with water sport activities and shallow waves just right for young children to jump in, and beaches with lots of shade for lounging in beach chairs and beach side restaurants.

St. Croix has several marinas and day sails are very popular, especially to Buck Island which is a national park with an underwater snorkeling trail in one of the finest marine gardens in the Caribbean Sea. Sunset sails are also popular. St. Croix is a world class dive site and offers dive certification classes and dive tours.

On St. Croix you can also visit a 16 acre Botanical Garden with over a thousand exotic plants and trees, a restored sugar plantation museum, and lots of places for hiking and exploring. We are a multi-cultural island with West Indian, Hispanic, Arab, Danish, and American populations.
