About our home

About our house

Lovely 2 story residence in Hon Xen, (pronounced hon sen) a suburb 15 min from the centre of Nha Trang, Vietnam. You ride home around what is called one of the 20 most beautiful bays in the world. Vietnamese people and culture surround, tourists of every nationality swimming on sandy beaches, street stalls, international hotels, pure magic at night.

Ground floor: A delightful front courtyard with fishpond and hanging plants. The hem (alley) is wide compared to most hems in Vietnam, easy access.
From the courtyard, you walk into a comfortable living/tv room with stocked bookshelf (good reading) and a table seating 10. Then a large double-bed room, a sizable well equipped kitchen, a bathroom, entry via a sun-well roofed garden room.
Upstairs: The spacious main bedroom with small balcony. You can see the sea (if you look between buildings in development) which a 6 minute walk or 2 minute push-bike ride away.
Upstairs we utilize three bedroom-size rooms as separate walk-in wardrobes and an office.
The upstairs bathroom and sun-well is same same (Vietnamese logical comparative) as ground floor.
This sun-well contributes to the light-filled, airy, spacious feel of home. For those interested in such facts, the house was designed utilizing the principles of Feng Shui.
There is an easy walk to an every 20 min bus service into town.

About your destination

Nha Trang is a renowned South-East coast, resort city. Often called the Noosa Heads/Surfers Paradise of Vietnam, the general mind-set of inhabitants is half work half play. An International Marina (Ana Marina) is being built at Hon Xen. .

Essentially our home swap could be your comfortable introduction to the delightful Vietnam ‘experience’. From our comfortable home you can inexpensively explore the rest of Vietnam.
My Vietnamese wife, Thúy, and I have extended Vietnamese family, some who speak English. We have a large collection of different nationality expat friends, some who speak varying levels of Vietnamese and many have Vietnamese wives.
We’ll arrange introductions to them and to contacts, activities, bars & haunts of Nha Trang. You will become a local in a short period of time. You may even decide to extend your stay… many make it permanent.
Well worth the exploration.

Where is it?

Because of our close proximity to Nha Trang, all the tourist visits & haunts of this famous city are only a bike ride away.
There are comparatively few people who own cars, almost everyone in Vietnam rides bikes.
At first this seems a little daunting, most people haven’t ridden bikes before. However you'd be surprised how quickly you adapt as everyone does. Out of the wet season which is only a few months of the year Vietnam has delightful weather.
We own Honda Motor bike, and Sym motor scooter which is very easy to ride. Both will be available.
