“This was right up there with one of our most enjoyable home exchanges (and we've done close to 100). The setting is absolutely superb - on the French side of the French Pyrenees, but only 15 minutes to the Spanish enclave of Lliva and to Spain itself. The house is a beautifully renovated, rambling French farmhouse with rooms and hidden staircases to discover. It was very well equipped and huge! The garden outside was a peaceful place in which to relax and we enjoyed a very memorable long lunch under the trees one day. The only sounds - birdsong and the conversations with your friends. Pat was fantastic with her knowledge before our arrival and arranged for a friend of hers to meet us and to give us some excellent advice on what to see and do. As a result, we enjoyed two stupendous hikes - one on the Spanish side to a refuge for lunch, and the other on the French side to view 9 amazing lakes (we picnicked beside one lake - it was picture postcard outstandingly beautiful). Another day we took the Train Jaune to the historic village of Villefranche-le-Conflet and thoroughly enjoyed the train itself (open carriage one way, closed on the way back). Of course, we went to Spain to enjoy some tapas meals as well. We loved it all and would love to go back. If you're into hiking and great views, or just a really relaxing country stay, this is the place for you! Pat and her friends & family stayed at our French house earlier in the year and they left it in perfect order, so this was a great non-sim swap all round. ”
