Hidden behind a hedge nestled among well established trees and a large  rambling garden our lovely rustic home was a wonderful place to raise three happy sons.Built in the 1920’s visitors,family and friends have always admired its charming character.
 Now that we have retired and our sons have left home we have plenty of room and also welcome families to stay.
With  4 double bedrooms,(sleeps 8 )two separate living rooms,a separate dining room,2 studys,separate farmhouse kitchen and three out door entertaining areas to choose from there is lots of space.
A disused grass tennis court and a large vegetable garden give opportunities to enjoy the outside areas in the summer months with plenty of old trees for shade when the sun shines.To help the bee population in the world we host a bee hive in a faraway section of the garden out of harms way.
Our  sunny upstairs large  rumpus room has a projector to screen TV and movies for family entertainment or downstairs in the formal sitting room there is a cosy  log burner and another TV.
We have a shy black cat called Pixie...who loves to be stroked and needs feeding twice a day...although alternatives can be arranged ...
Our neighbourhood is very safe and quiet in a cul de sac and because our house is secluded it feels very private as if we were in the countryside.
Depending on the current  situation there could possibly be a car to use(five seater)...but this would depend on our plans at the time.
There is a local bus into the town centre but it would be a five minute walk to the nearest bus stop and is very infrequent.
Again depending on the season and the duration of your stay there might possibly be an obligation to water the vegetables and flower  gardens
The Timaru down town centre is seven minutes drive away  but within five minutes are two separate shopping malls complete with large supermarkets,pharmacies,shoe shops and Post offices.
Five minutes walk away is a quiet cheap Golf Course that welcomes casual golfers.

About our Area
Timaru is situated in the heart of the Central South Island  East coast directly on the main south road.Our  family friendly town population is 30,000 and there are neighbouring smaller rural towns to explore.We have a thriving Port and the town is surrounded by lush pasture with New Zealands magnificent Southern Alps to the west.
Our beautiful beach ,Caroline Bay is one of New Zealands safest...(five minutes away from our home) where holiday makers have flocked to for over 100 years .Timaru is considered one of the best places in New Zealand to grow Roses so visit the Trevor Griffiths Roses garden at Caroline Bay -A garden of National significance with more than 1200 rose varieties..Visit one of the South islands best Art galleries, Aigantighe with a permanent collection including works by NZ masters along with local artists and temporary exhibitions. also explore Te Ana Maori Rock Art centre for meaningful and authentic cultural interpretations of some of the nations most significant examples of Maori Rock Art.
Just 1.5 hours drive away is Lake Tekapo,  in the heart of the vast Mc Kenzie District, another popular  tourist destination with its awe inspiring scenery. a family friendly ski field, Horse treking, Hot Spa pool complex, skating in winter , a night sky observatory which was recently granted an International  Dark Sky reserve status .”.where the sky is so clear and vast that millions of stars seem to appear right before your eyes!”... and is one of the best stargazing sites on earth!
Another unforgettable day trip from Timaru  just 2.5 hours away is to Aoraki Mt Cook village at the head of Lake Pukaki, part of the UNESCO World heritage park  in the heart of the southern alps which you can explore by walking, guided tramps, ski plane or helicopter...
Our closest Ski field is Mt Dobson...40 minutes away...but Round Hill at Tekapo and Mount Hutt are also only 2 hours drive from our home.
Timaru  is two hours south of Christchurch International airport  and three hours North of Dunedin or the central Otago Queenstown area and Timaru even  has its own domestic airport with flights in and to Wellington twice a day!
