One can't visit Bastille without taking in the historic and political beauty that is Place de la Bastille, a prison that was stormed and destroyed during the French Revolution, and Collone de Juillet. Bastille is not only for history buffs or Les Mis fans, it boasts a multitude of cool and trendy shops, galleries and bars. Grab a drink in L'Entre Potes, housed in a former warehouse, and relax in leather armchairs surrounded by vintage Metro signs.
For those with a sweet tooth, head to Le Manufacture de Chocolat Alain Ducasse for pure chocolate luxury. Chocoholics - you are welcome.

Catch the train from Gare de Lyon and head to the beautiful Fontainebleau forest on the outskirts of Paris. There’s also a palace which offers amazing history, so it’s great for a day or even a weekend.
Place de Vosges is the oldest planned square in Paris and is a short walk from Bastille. Head there on a sunny day and spend a day in the gorgeous gardens surrounding red stone buildings.
For wonderful French and Provençal cuisine, head to Chez Janou for a laid-back dinner after a busy day of sightseeing. This modestly priced establishment is a favourite among mostly locals, and just a few tourists.
