Greenwich Village

New York, United States

An epicentre for bohemians and businesspeople.

Recently made famous as the setting of Friends in the nineties and noughties, Greenwich Village is the relaxed neighbourhood of New York City. From the cherry blossom-lined streets to the bustling areas surrounding New York University, "the village" is a hub for those who want a breath of a fresh air (and a break from the vibrancy of midtown).

Places to visit in Greenwich Village

Greenwich Village is home to the Beat movement and bohemians of the 1950s, so it comes as no surprise that this leafy residential area also boasts a huge amount of culture and history. Take a look at the infamous chess boards in Washington Square Park or play a game of the American favourite, B-ball, in West 4th Street courts before heading to Joe's Pizza for round the clock delicious slices.

The village itself is well worth a stroll around to take in the vast history and beauty of one of the most exclusive neighbourhoods in Manhattan. For those in the City for the spooky holiday, The Village Halloween Parade is a must-see.
